KARAMOJA GIRL EDUCATION INITIATIVE is independent, non-political, non-partisan, non-governmental and non-profit-making organization that promotes the interest and well-being of vulnerable children and youth in Uganda by advocating for formal and informal education, basic human rights, talent development promoting formal and vocational education for hands on skills that will empower them to become self-reliant and financially independent in future. Karamoja Girl Education Initiative (KAGEI) was founded on October 1, 2018 as Community Based Organization by a group of educated young Karimojong men and women keen on ensuring education for under privileged children and youth in society with a mandate to promote girl education through sponsorship model and were aware of the potential within them to positively contribute to the development of talents and cultural heritage in Uganda. The founder members believed that through nurturing and transforming lives of vulnerable young people such as orphans, street children, the neglected, and the disabled children would positively complement their development through engaging them into the various integrated programs such as games and sports, music, dance, and educative workshops, youth boot camps, and debates, promoting formal and vocational education that will complement the National Development frameworks. Karamoja Girl Education Initiative was fully registered by Uganda Registration Services Bureau on December 8, 2023 with Registration No: 80034612169146 and Kaabong District Local Government with Registration No: KAABONG/11715604 on February 13, 2024 as a Community Based Organization.
Our key emphasis is on education, child protection, reproductive health, livelihoods, and cross cutting issues such as HIV/AIDS, gender mainstreaming and environment.
